Karen Movsesjan ( Armenian Կարեն Մովսիսյան , Karen Mowsisjan ; born January 6, 1963 in Yerevan ) is an Armenian chess master . He played for the German Chess Federation from 1993 to 1997 . He has been living in Spain for several years.

Movsesjan won or occupied top places in several tournaments: 1st place at the U-18 Junior Championship of Armenia (1983), 2nd place at the Open in Porz (1992). In the summer of 1993 in Berlin , he won ahead of Henrik Teske . In 1996 he won the Bad Wörishofen Chess Festival in front of Oleh Romanyschyn and Alexander Chalifman . A 1st – 3rd He took place at the championship of Hamburg (1997). In 1997 he played in Bad Wörishofen , where he finished second to eleventh, after the fine scoring, he finished tenth. Further successes are: 1st place at the Open in Mancha Real (2000), 1st place at the 1st Carvalho Memorial in Maia (2003), 2nd place at the Claude Pecaut Memorial in Taormina (2003), 2nd place at the 2nd tournament. Caja Canarias in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (2004), 1st place at the Monariz GM tournament in Pontevedra (2006/2007), 2nd place at the 2nd tournament in Sóller (2007), 1st place at the 8th Open in Tarragona (2007 ) and 2nd place at the Can Picafort Masters in Palma (2008). In August 2017 Movsesjan won in Sabadell , the senior European Championship in the age group 50+, in November 2018, he was in Bled senior champion of the age group 50+.

Movsesjan has held the title of Grand Master since 1994 . In the German federal chess league he played from 1993 to 1997 for Hamburger SK , with whom he also participated in the European Club Cup in 1995 , in the Spanish team championship in 1998 and 1999 for CA Epic-Barcino Terrassa , with whom he became Spanish team champion in 1998.

His Elo number is 2527 (as of June 2018), his highest Elo number of 2570 he reached in July 2009.
