Tigran Levoni Petrosjan ( Armenian Տիգրան Լևոնի Պետրոսյան , Russian Тигра́н Лево́нович Петрося́н ; born September 17, 1984 in Yerevan ) is an Armenian chess grandmaster .

Single successes

Petrosjan reached second place at the 2004 Junior World Championships in Kochi, India . At the 2009 European Championships he qualified for the 2009 World Chess Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk , but failed in the first round to Georg Meier . In 2012 and 2013, Petrosyan won the Armenian championship .

In 2003 Petrosyan was awarded the title of International Master after meeting standards in September 2002 at the Armenian Championship in Yerevan, in November 2002 at the U18 Youth World Cup in Heraklion and in July 2003 at the BSCA Championship in Batumi . In July 2004 he was appointed Grand Master , for which the aforementioned norm from Heraklion was sufficient.

National team

Petrosyan took part with the Armenian national team in the 2008 Chess Olympiads in Dresden and 2012 in Istanbul (both of which he won with the team), the World Team Championships in 2010 and 2013 and the European Team Championships in 2009 (in which he achieved the second-best result among substitutes) and 2013.

Petrosyan won the Armenian team championship in all five participations; In 2005, 2008 and 2009 he played for MIKA Yerevan , in 2006 and 2007 for Bank King Yerevan . He also took part in the European Club Cup with both clubs (2006 and 2007 with Bank King , 2008 to 2011 with MIKA ), the greatest success being second place in the 2009 team ranking. Petrosjan also played for the Egyptian club Eastern Company Al-Sharkia , with which he won the Arab club championship in 2007 and also achieved the second-best result on the top board, and for the Iranian club Fajr-e-Shams-e-Atieh Tehran , with which he was in 2008 reached third place in the Asian club championship, at the same time he achieved the second best individual result on the third board.
