The División de Honor (chess) 1999 was the fifth season of the División de Honor and at the same time the 43rd Spanish team championship in chess , it was played with ten teams. Champion was the team of CA Marcote Mondariz, while the defending champion CA Epic-Barcino Terrassa did not get beyond ninth place and had to relegate to the Primera División. CA Palm Oasis Maspalomas, RC Labradores Sevilla and CA Alzira-Hilaturas Presencia had moved up from the Primera División. While Maspalomas and Sevilla reached relegation, Alzira had to relegate along with CA Epic-Barcino Terrassa and CA Endesa Ponferrada.

For the team squads of the participating clubs, see Team Squad of the División de Honor (Chess) 1999 .

mode

The ten participating teams played a simple round-robin tournament . The last three were relegated to the Primera División and were replaced by the promoted from the Primera División. The game was played on four boards, the number of board points (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of team points (two points for a win, one point) decided the placement for a tie, no point for a loss).

Dates and venue

The tournament was held in Cala Galdana from November 8th to 16th .

Season course

UGA Barcelona were at the top of the table until the 6th round, in the 7th round CA Marcote Mondariz took the lead with a win against UGA and never gave it up. CA Epic-Barcino Terrasa and CA Endesa Ponferrada were clearly beaten at the bottom of the table and were relegated early. The decision about the third relegated was only made in the final round, in the end CA Alzira-Hilaturas Presencia had the same board and team points against RC Labradores Sevilla only because of the defeat in a direct comparison.
