The División de Honor (chess) 2001 was the seventh season of the División de Honor and at the same time the 45th Spanish team championship in chess , it was played with ten teams. Champion was the newly promoted CA Tiendas UPI Mancha Real, while the defending champion CA Gran Canaria (in the previous year as CA Palm Oasis Maspalomas at the start) did not take part and was relegated. In addition to CA Tiendas UPI Mancha Real, the teams from CA Valencia-Evajedrez and CA Solvay Torrelavega were promoted from the Primera División. While Valencia achieved relegation, Torrelavega had to relegate together with RC Labradores Sevilla and CA Gran Canaria.

The nine participating teams played a simple round-robin tournament . The last two (as well as the team from CA Gran Canaria that did not appear) were relegated to the Primera División and were replaced by the promoted teams from the Primera División. The game was played on four boards, the placement was first determined by the number of board points (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the direct comparison and then the number of team points (two points for a win, one point for a tie, no point for a loss).

Dates and venue

The tournament was held in Cala Galdana .

Season course

CA Tiendas UPI Mancha Real and CA Reverté Albox fought a duel for the title, which in the end saw CA Tiendas UPI Mancha Real in front. In addition to the selection of CA Gran Canaria, who did not participate in the tournament, CA Solvay Torrelavega was determined prematurely as relegated, while the decision on the third relegated was only made in the last round against RC Labradores Sevilla.
