Daniel Hugo Cámpora Sivori (born June 30, 1957 in San Nicolás de los Arroyos ) is an Argentine chess player .

In 1975 Daniel Cámpora was Argentine youth champion. He won the Argentine individual championship twice (1986 and 1989). He won international tournaments in 1983 in Tuzla , 1996 in Benasque (shared with Oleg Korneev ), 2003 in Almendralejo and 2006 in Seville .

Cámpora took part in nine chess Olympiads for Argentina between 1978 and 2008 , where he received a gold medal for his performance of 7.5 out of 9 on the first board and a silver medal for his rating performance of 2776 Elo points in Moscow in 1994 . He also took part in the 1985 World Team Championship with Argentina . In the Spanish team championship he played in 1995 and 1996 for RC Labradores Sevilla , 1999 and 2000 for CA Caja de Canarias and from 2001 to 2003 and again in 2005 for the team of CA Tiendas UPI Mancha Real , with which he was Spanish team champion in 2001 and 2002 participated in the European Club Cup 2004. In the 1990s and 2000s he also played in the Argentine, Swiss (for Biel ) and Portuguese (for DG Diana Évora ) 1st league.

Although Cámpora was never among the absolute best in the world (his best world ranking position was 44th in January 1987), he has managed to beat many world-class players in the course of his career: He has won against Ľubomír Ftáčnik , Bent Larsen , Milan Matulović , Andras Adorjan , Lajos Portisch , Dragoljub Velimirović , Boris Gulko , László Szabó , Murray Chandler , Efim Geller , Ye Jiangchuan , Julio Granda , Vesselin Topalov , Alexander Morozevich , Andrei Charlow , William Lombardy , Jan Timman , Emil Sutovsky , Ilya Smirin , Vadim Milov , Nigel Short , Alexei Schirow , Jaan Ehlvest and Sergei Karjakin .

In 1982 Cámpora became International Master , since 1986 he has been Grand Master . Cámpora lives in Seville, Spain.
