Salvador Alonso

Salvador Alonso (born May 13, 1974 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine chess master .

He has an Elo rating of 2512 (September 2016) and is ninth in the national ranking of active players. He has been an international master since 2001 and a grand master since October 2009 . Alonso achieved the grandmaster norms from 2004 to 2009 at tournaments in Argentina and Chile. He reached his highest rating in January 2013 with 2525. For Argentina he played at the Pan-American team championship in 2009 and at the Mercosur Olympics in 2009 on the top board of the second team, which took third place.

In 2012 he won the ITT Programa de alto Rendimiento tournament in Uruguay .

January 2016 Alonso won the ITT CXG Marcel Duchamp Memorial Tournament.
