Ye Jiangchuan ( Chinese  葉江川  /  叶江川 , Pinyin Yè Jiāngchuān ; born November 20, 1960 in Wuxi ) is a Chinese chess master .

Life

Ye has been a grandmaster since 1993 , multiple national champion of China (1981, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1994, 1996) and was a leading player in China for many years. In 2001, Ye advanced to the round of 16 at the FIDE knockout world championship , where he was defeated by the eventual vice world champion Wassyl Ivanchuk with 0.5: 1.5. Ye qualified for the 2005 World Chess Cup , but failed in the first round because of his compatriot Xu Jun .

Ye is listed as inactive at FIDE, as he did not play an Elo rated game after the 2009 Chinese Team Championship . He was last among the top 20 in the world in April 2003, the month in which he had his highest rating to date of 2684.

National team

With the Chinese national team, Ye Jiangchuan took part in all twelve Chess Olympiads from 1982 to 2004 . He achieved the second best result on the fourth board in 1982. He also took part in the team world championships in 1985 and 1989 and the Asian team championships in 1981, 1983, 1987, 1989, 1993, 1999 and 2003. He was Asian team champion in 1983, 1987, 1989 and 2003 and reached second place in 1981, in the individual ranking he achieved the best result on the first reserve board in 1981, on the third board in 1983 and on the second board in 1985, and the second best on the top board in 1993 and 2003 Result.

In the Chinese team championship Ye played from 2005 to 2007 and 2009 for the Beijing Patriots , with whom he became champions in 2005 and 2006 .
