The Spanish team championship in chess in 1970 was the 14th edition of this competition, this was held with 16 teams. The defending champion CA Schweppes Madrid won his third title in a row by a clear margin.
The 16 participating teams were divided into four preliminary round groups of four teams each and played a simple round-robin tournament in these . The four group winners contested the final round, the other twelve teams were divided into three qualifying groups for the Spanish team championship in 1971. For the Spanish team championship in 1971, the four finalists and the three winners of the qualifying groups qualified. The game was played on four boards, the number of board points (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of team points (two points for a win, one point) decided the placement for a tie, no point for a loss).

The tournament was held in Valencia from October 5th to 10th .
