División de Honor (chess) 2005

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The División de Honor (chess) 2005 was the eleventh season of the División de Honor and at the same time the 49th Spanish team championship in chess , it was played with ten teams. The champions were the team of CA Reverté Albox-Costa de Almería, while the defending champion CA Intel-Tiendas UPI Mancha Real had to be content with fourth place. CA Eborajedrez Talavera, Gros XT and CA Alzira-Hilaturas Presencia were promoted from the Primera División. While Talavera and Gros XT achieved relegation, Alzira had to relegate together with CA La Caja Las Palmas.

This year there were some organizational changes, so the competition was no longer held as a round-robin tournament, but in a preliminary and final round, and the team strength was increased from four to six boards.

For the team squads of the participating clubs, see Team Squad of the División de Honor (Chess) 2005 .

mode

The ten participating teams played a simple round-robin tournament in two preliminary groups with five teams each . In both groups, the first two qualified for the finals, while the bottom of the table was relegated to the Primera División. The game was played on six boards, the placement was first determined by the number of team points (two points for a win, one point for a draw, no point for a defeat) and then the number of board points (one point for a win, half a point) for a draw, no point for a loss). The final round was played in the knockout system , with third place also being played out. If a competition ended 3: 3 in the final round, the winner was the team that achieved a victory on the highest board; if all games ended in a draw, the team that had the black pieces on the top board was considered the winner.

Dates and venue

The first preliminary round was played from August 24th to 28th in Mérida , the second from August 31st to September 4th in San Lluís . The final round was held in Mérida on September 10th and 11th.
