División de Honor (chess) 2006

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The División de Honor (chess) 2006 was the twelfth season of the División de Honor and at the same time the 50th Spanish team championship in chess . It should be played with twelve teams, but the team of CA Eborajedrez Talavera did not appear. The champions were the CA Linex-Magic Mérida team, while the defending champion CA Reverté Albox-Unicaja (last year CA Reverté Albox-Costa de Almería) had to be content with fourth place. Due to the increase in the league with CA Solvay Torrelavega, GEVA-CEA Andorra, CA Cuna de Dragones-Ajoblanco Mérida and CA AMD-Cofimán Mancha Real, four teams were promoted from the Primera División. In purely sporting terms, Torrelavega, Mérida and Mancha Real achieved relegation, while Andorra would have been relegated together with UGA Barcelona, CA Valencia-Cuna del Ajedrez Moderno and the team from CA Eborajedrez Talavera that had not started. However, since Mancha Real withdrew his team, UGA Barcelona achieved relegation as the best relegated team.

For the team squads of the participating clubs, see Team Squad of the División de Honor (Chess) 2006 .

mode

The twelve participating teams played a simple round-robin tournament in two preliminary groups with six teams . In both groups, the first two qualified for the finals, while the last two were relegated to the Primera División. The game was played on six boards, the number of board points (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point for a defeat) and then the number of team points (two points for a win, one point) decided the placement for a tie, no point for a loss). The final round was played in the knockout system , with third place also being played out.
