Spanish team championship in chess 1962
The Spanish team championship in chess in 1962 was the sixth edition of this competition. There were nine teams at the start. Real Madrid as defending champions, CA Español Barcelona as champions of Catalonia and AAA Zaragoza as host were directly qualified, the remaining starting positions were played out in qualifying competitions. CA Alcoy (against Club Remo Murcia and CA Chardenet Madrid), CA Tarrasa (against CA Bansander Madrid and CA San Andrés Barcelona), CA Peña Rey Ardid Bilbao (against Vasconia Vitoria and CA Sans), CA Barcelona (against CC Guipuzcoano San Sebastián and Ateneo Mercantil Valencia), RC Regatas Santander (against Centro Asturiano Gijón and Círculo Palentino) and CM Málaga (against CA Peña Oromana Alcalá de Guadaira and Radio Granada). The defending champions Real Madrid and CA Español Barcelona drew a tie and defeated all other rivals, but Madrid gained a clear lead in board points.
mode
The nine participating teams played a simple round-robin tournament on four boards. The number of points on the board (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of team points (two points for a win, one point for a draw, no point) decided the placement for defeat).
Dates and venue
The tournament was held from October 14th to 23rd in the Commercial, Industrial and Agricultural Center ( Centro Mercantil, Industrial y Agricola ) in Zaragoza .
