The Spanish team championship in chess in 1969 was the 13th edition of this competition, this was held with 16 teams. The defending champion CA Schweppes Madrid won by one point over CE Terrassa.
The 16 participating teams were divided into four preliminary round groups of four teams each and played a simple round-robin tournament in these . The four group winners contested the final round, the other twelve teams were divided into three qualifying groups for the 1970 Spanish team championship. For the Spanish team championship in 1970, the four finalists and the three winners of the qualifying groups qualified. The game was played on four boards, the number of board points (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of team points (two points for a win, one point) decided the placement for a tie, no point for a loss).
Dates and venue
The tournament was held in Seville from September 29th to October 4th .
Preliminary round
While CA Schweppes Madrid and CE Barcelona clearly dominated groups A and B, group C CA Gambito Valencia, CA Gran Canaria Las Palmas and CA Español Barcelona fought a three-way battle and group D CE Terrassa and UGA Barcelona a duel for the final round.
