The Spanish team championship in chess in 1986 was the 30th edition of this competition and was held with 28 teams. The champions were the team of CE Vulcà Barcelona just ahead of UGA Barcelona and La Caja de Canarias. The defending champion CE Terrassa had to be content with ninth place.

mode

The 28 participating teams played eight rounds in the Swiss system , the first five qualified directly for the final round of the Spanish team championship in 1987. The game was played on four boards, the number of board points initially decided on the placement (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point for a loss). In the event of a tie, the Buchholz rating (sum of the board points achieved by the respective opponents) decided on the first ten places , the remaining places were shared in the event of a tie.
