División de Honor (chess) 2008

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The División de Honor (chess) 2008 was the 14th season of the División de Honor and at the same time the 52nd Spanish team championship in chess , it was played with twelve teams. The champions became the team of CCA CajaCanarias Santa Cruz, which prevailed in the final against the defending champion CA Linex-Magic Mérida. Sestao Naturgas Energia XT, CE Binissalem, SCC Sabadell and CE Barberà were promoted from the Primera División. Sabadell achieved relegation as the only climber, while the other climbers together with CE Foment Martinenc Barcelona relegated directly.

For the team squad of the participating clubs, see Team Squad of the División de Honor (Chess) 2008 .

mode

The twelve participating teams played a simple round-robin tournament in two preliminary groups with six teams each . In both groups, the first two qualified for the finals, while the last two were relegated to the Primera División. The game was played on six boards, the number of board points (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point for a defeat) and then the number of team points (two points for a win, one point) decided the placement for a tie, no point for a loss). The final round was played in the knockout system , with third place also being played out. If a competition ended 3: 3 in the final round, the competition was repeated with reversed colors and a reduced time for reflection ( rapid chess ). If this competition also ended 3: 3, the winner was the team that had won a game on the highest board in the first competition.

Dates and venue

The first preliminary round was played from September 3rd to 7th in Palma de Mallorca , the second at the same time in Sabadell . The final round was held in Motril on November 1st and 2nd .
