Career

Club

Zoltán Pál, who belongs to the Hungarian-speaking Szekler minority in Romania , played from 1999 to 2001 for the team from Neumann College in Aston , Pennsylvania in Division III of the US University Championships . In 2009 he - meanwhile returned to his hometown - won the first edition of the multinational MOL league with HC Csíkszereda . When the club then had to stop playing for financial reasons despite the sporting success, he switched to ASC Corona 2010 Brașov , for which he also played predominantly in the MOL league, but also in the Romanian league . In 2012 he moved to Budapest , where he was also on the ice in the MOL League for the Újpesti TE and the Ferencvárosi TC . After three years in the Hungarian capital, he returned to Romania and played two years for CSM Dunărea Galați in the Romanian ice hockey league . With the team from West Moldova , he won the Romanian championship in 2016 and the national cup a year later . He then moved to Sweden, where he is under contract with Varberg HK in Division 3 , the fifth tier of the Scandinavian country.

International

In contrast to other Szeklers who compete for Hungary , Pál plays internationally for his native Romania . In the junior division, he was on the ice at the U18-B-European championship in 1996 and the U18-C-European championship in 1997 . With the men's national team , he only played at the 2011 World Cup in Division II. It was promoted to Division I, to which Pál contributed with one goal and three assists.
