Roman Slobodjan (born January 1, 1975 in Potsdam ) is a German chess player .
Slobodjan learned the rules of chess from his father when he was six. He was trained in a chess club in the Ukrainian city of Kolomyja in the 1980s . He won the German U20 youth championship twice (1992 in Augsburg and 1994 in Herborn) before becoming the U20 junior world champion in Halle in 1995 . In the same year he landed on the shared first place at the German championship in Binz / Rügen . He could also 1995 Altensteig the fourth Credi IM youth tournament Altensteig '95 win.
In 1996 the World Chess Federation FIDE awarded him the title of Grand Master .
In 1997 he took part in the first-time KO World Championship in Groningen , where he beat Péter Lékó in the first round , but lost to Zurab Asmaiparashvili in the second . In 1998 he was shared first at the Arco Open and won in Berlin (shared) and Lippstadt (shared) in 1999 . At the German individual championship in 1999 in Altenkirchen, he was fourth. In 2000 he won the Leutersdorf Open and in 2004 the Premier tournament in Havana .
In the German Federal Chess League he played in the 1996/97 season and from 1998 to 2001 for USC Magdeburg , in the 2002/03 season for Schachfreunde Neukölln , in the 2006/07 season for SC Bann , in the 2007/08 season at TSV Bindlach and in the 2010/11 season for ESV Nickelhütte Aue . In France Slobodjan played for Bischwiller . He lives in Magdeburg .
