Dimitri Bunzmann ( FIDE transcription: Dimitrij Bunzmann , born February 21, 1982 in Tekeli , Kazakhstan ) is a German grandmaster in chess .

Career and clubs

Bunzmann came to Berlin in 1992 as a 10-year-old with his father as a quota refugee from Uzbekistan. There, the chairman of the chess club took care SVg Lasker-Steglitz to the needs of Bunzmanns, including Dimitris mother and grandparents were able to travel after, with Sergei Kalinitschew him was his coach and later Sekundant set aside. In the French team championship, Bunzmann played in the 2001/02 season at Echecs Sautron , from 2005 to 2007 at Cavalier Bleu Drancy and in the 2013/14 season at Les Tours de Haute Picardie

Bunzmann was considered a great talent in German youth chess in the 1990s . At the World Cup for under 12-year-olds in Hungary in 1994, Bunzmann finished fifth (with a win in the final round, first place would have been possible). In 1995 in Brazil he came 7th at the U14 World Cup. At the age of 14, he was runner-up in the German U20 championship in 1996. In the same year he finished fourth in the World Cup for under 14-year-olds in Spain , behind today's world-class players Gabriel Sarkissjan , Lewon Aronjan , Francisco Vallejo Pons before Étienne Bacrot . In 1998 he was sixth behind Sjarhej Asarau at the U16 World Youth Championships in Oropesa del Mar (Spain).

In October 1999 Bunzmann lost a competition in Hamburg against Péter Lékó, who was 2½ years his senior, with 4: 2 (+0 = 4 −2). Even then, Lékó was one of the world's best with an Elo rating of 2701.

Bunzmann has held the title of grandmaster since 2003.
