Michael Bezold (born May 23, 1972 in Bayreuth ) is a German chess player .
biography
Michael Bezold grew up in the Waischenfelder powder mill and passed his Abitur at the Kaiser-Heinrich-Gymnasium in Bamberg .
He works as a software developer and is also active as an organizer of chess tournaments. International youth chess events were held in the pulver mill, such as the second international youth chess meeting in 2002 .

The international German youth championship in 1989, which started right after Christmas in Trier, was won by Michael Bezold from Bamberg. In 1990 and 1991 he was German youth champion . During this time, the eccentric ex-world champion Bobby Fischer went into hiding for three months in the Bezold family's Hotel Pulvermühle in Waischenfeld. They spent a lot of time together analyzing chess before Fischer rushed to leave after being discovered by the media. Bezold took part in two Junior World Championships U20 : 1991 he came in 21st place in Romania , in 1992 he was ninth in Argentina . In 1993 FIDE awarded him the title of International Master .
Bezold played in the German Federal Chess League for a long time . In 1993 he achieved tournament successes in Budapest (First Saturday 02, 1st – 3rd place), at the Mephisto tournament (3rd / 4th place) and at the Brno-B tournament (1st / 2nd place). He fulfilled his last required standard for the title of grandmaster with a tournament victory at the Stockholm chess tournament on January 5th, 1998. From 2000 to 2002 he was the junior coach of the German Chess Federation .

As a teenager, Michael Bezold was a member of SC 1868 Bamberg , for which he was the first substitute in the Bundesliga chess league in the 1988/89 season and was a regular from 1989 to 1992. From 1992 to 1995 Bezold played at Bayern Munich , with whom he became German team champion in 1993 and 1995 . From 1995 to 1999 he played in the 2nd Bundesliga at SV Würzburg, from 1999 to 2002 at TSV Bindlach. After Bezold played in the first division with Hamburger SK from 2002 to 2005 , he played in the 2005/06 season with SC Noris Tarrasch Nuremberg in the second division, represented the TSV Bindlach shareholder in the Bundesliga from 2006 to 2008 and belongs since 2008 again with FC Bayern Munich, who plays in the first division from 2008 to 2011 and again since the 2013/14 season. In the Austrian Bundesliga , Bezold has played for SK Hohenems since 1999 and became the Austrian team champion in 2014 . In the British Four Nations Chess League Bezold played in the 2000/01 season with Richmond .
