DJK Upward St. Josef Aachen 1920

The DJK Aufwärts St. Josef Aachen 1920 is a German chess club that belongs to the DJK Sports Association .

General

The club has around 180 members and operates six teams in general match operations, as well as six youth teams and one women's team. The first team in general play rose in the 2015/16 season from the 2nd Bundesliga West to the Chess Bundesliga and was able to hold the class in the following season . The second team was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga West in the 2016/17 season.

The women's team of the club competes in the Frauenregionalliga West.

The first youth team takes part in the Youth League West.

The club's first team took part in the European Club Cup in October 2018 as one of four German participants and was 17th out of 61 participating teams. On November 6, 2018, the DJK Aufwärts Aachen announced its withdrawal from the 1st Bundesliga.
