German Chess League 1997/98

The 1997/98 season was the 18th season of the German Chess League . As in the previous season, SG Porz became champions . The chess friends Neukölln , SK Zähringen 1921 , SVG 1920 Plettenberg and USG Chemnitz were newly promoted . In addition to the newcomers Plettenberg and Chemnitz, SV Empor Berlin had to be relegated, while Zähringen was spared relegation because SCA St. Ingbert voluntarily withdrew from the league after the season.
