Chess Bundesliga 2019/20

The season 2019/20 is the 40th season of the German Chess Bundesliga . The defending champion is OSG Baden-Baden . Last year, SV Lingen (North), FC Bayern Munich (East), SG Speyer-Schwegenheim (South) and the Aachener Chess Club 1856 (West) rose from the 2nd Bundesliga . SV Lingen withdrew its team before the third double round.

Events

The first eight rounds took place on November 23 and 24, December 7 and 8, 2019, February 8, 9, 22 and 23, 2020 and were played decentrally at the clubs involved. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic , first rounds 9 to 12 were canceled, which were also to be held on March 14 and 15 and April 4 and 5, 2020, later also rounds 13 to 15, which were to take place on March 30, 2020 April to May 2, 2020 should be played centrally in Berlin . In a press release dated 12 July 2020, the chess Bundesliga eV announced that the season is to be continued in spring 2021 and is scheduled at the same time, in September 2020 at a central event in Baden-Baden or Karlsruhe the title of the German team champion in 2020 play off.
