Chalonnes-sur-Loire is a west French commune in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire .
The city is located about 20 kilometers southwest of Angers on the Loire , directly at the confluence of its left tributary Layon , and has 6535 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). Its area is 38.56 km² .

Viticulture
Chalonnes-sur-Loire is one of the largest vineyards in the department . The wines are marketed under the appellations Anjou , Anjou-Villages, Chaume , Coteaux-du-Layon and Coteaux-de-la-Loire .
Town twinning
Chalonnes-sur-Loire has been Tecklenburg's twin town since 1982 . Furthermore, town twinning has existed since 1991 with Ballinasloe in County Galway, Ireland and since 2001 with the Polish city of Sanniki .
