geography
The municipality is located about twelve kilometers south-southeast of Angers on the Aubance and belongs to the Anjou wine-growing region . Saint-Melaine-sur-Aubance is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Les Ponts-de-Cé in the north and north-west, Juigné-sur-Loire in the north and north-east, Saint-Jean-des-Mauvrets in the east and north-east, Vauchrétien in the south, Soulaines -sur-Aubance to the west and south-west and Mûrs-Erigné to the north-west.
Junction 22 Brissac-Quincé on the A87 autoroute is located in the far north of the municipality .
