Terranjou was formed on January 1, 2017 as Commune nouvelle from the municipalities of Chavagnes , Notre-Dame-d'Allençon and Martigné-Briand . The administrative headquarters are in Chavagnes.

Terranjou is about 23 kilometers south-southeast of the city center of Angers . Terranjou is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Brissac Loire Aubance in the north and northeast, Doué-en-Anjou in the east and southeast, Lys-Haut-Layon in the south, Aubigné-sur-Layon in the southwest and Bellevigne-en-Layon in the west.
