Loire-Authion is a French municipality with 15,702 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Angers and the Canton of Angers-7 . The inhabitants are called Loire-Authiens .

Loire-Authion was created as Commune nouvelle as part of a territorial reform on January 1, 2016 through the merger of seven former municipalities, which are now districts of Loire-Authion ( Communes déléguées ). The administrative center is in the locality of Saint-Mathurin-sur-Loire .

geography

Loire-Authion is about twelve kilometers east of Angers on the Loire , which also forms the southern municipal boundary. Loire-Authion is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Villevêque , Sarrigné and Corzé in the north, Jarzé Villages and Cornillé-les-Caves in the northeast, Mazé-Milon in the east, La Ménitré and Gennes-Val-de-Loire in the southeast, Brissac Loire and Aubance Blaison-Saint-Sulpice in the south, Les Garennes sur Loire and Les Ponts-de-Cé in the south-west, Trélazé in the west, Saint-Barthélemy-d'Anjou in the west and north-west and Le Plessis-Grammoire in the north-west.
