Écouflant is a western commune with 4159 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Angers and is part of the canton of Angers-5 (until 2015: canton of Angers-Ouest ). The inhabitants are called Écouflantais (es) .
geography
Écouflant is a banlieue north of Angers on the Sarthe , into which the Loir (at the northwesternmost tip of the municipality) flows. Écouflant is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Briollay in the north, Rives-du-Loir-en-Anjou with Villevêque in the northeast, Verrières-en-Anjou in the east, Saint-Barthélemy-d'Anjou in the southeast, Angers in the south and Catenay-Épinard in the West.
The A11 autoroute , which intersects with Autoroute 87 , runs through the south of the municipality . The place has a train stop on the Le Mans – Angers railway line .
