Rochefort-sur-Loire is a west French municipality with 2355 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Angers and the canton of Chalonnes-sur-Loire . The inhabitants are called Rochefortais (es) .
geography
Rochefort-sur-Loire is located about 20 kilometers southwest of Angers on the Louet , a tributary of the Loire that borders the municipality in the north. The area is part of the Anjou and Coteaux-du-Layon wine-growing regions . Rochefort-sur-Loire is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Béhuard in the north and northeast, Denée in the east and northeast, Mozé-sur-Louet in the east, Beaulieu-sur-Layon in the southeast, Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay in the south, Saint- Aubin-de-Luigné in the south and south-west, Chaudefonds-sur-Layon in the south-west, Chalonnes-sur-Loire in the west and La Possonnière in the north-west.
