The Kedarnath is a 6940 m high mountain in the Himalayas in Uttarakhand ( India ).
The mountain is located in the Gangotri Group in the eastern Garhwal Himalayas . The 6831 m high secondary peak Kedar Dome is located 1.5 km northeast of the main peak. The Gangotrigletscher runs along its eastern flank. The mountain range consisting of Thalay Sagar , Meru and Shivling extends about 8 km north of Kedarnath .
The Swiss André Roch and others made the first ascent of Kedarnath in 1947 .
