La Possonnière is a French commune with 2,437 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Angers and is part of the canton of Chalonnes-sur-Loire (until 2015: canton of Saint-Georges-sur-Loire ). The inhabitants are called possonnées .

geography

La Possonnière is located about 14 kilometers southwest of Angers on the Loire . La Possonnière is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Savennières in the north and east, Béhuard in the east, Rochefort-sur-Loire in the south and south-east, Chalonnes-sur-Loire in the south-west and Saint-Georges-sur-Loire in the west and north-west.

The place has a train station on the Tours – Saint-Nazaire railway line .
