Brain-sur-l'Authion is a town and commune Déléguée in the French commune of Loire-Authion with 3,488 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire . The inhabitants are called the Brainois .

With effect from January 1, 2016, the municipalities of Andard , Bauné , La Bohalle , Brain-sur-l'Authion , Corné , La Daguenière and Saint-Mathurin-sur-Loire were merged into a Commune nouvelle called Loire-Authion. The municipality of Brain-sur-l'Authion belonged to the arrondissement of Angers and the canton of Angers-7 (until 2015: canton of Angers-Trélazé ).

history

Archaeological excavations have revealed the remains of a Gallo-Roman villa in Brain-sur-l'Authion. From the 11th century, the place is mentioned as Brenum in the books (including the Abbey of Saint-Serge).
