Doue-en-Anjou is a French municipality with 11,005 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Saumur and the canton of Doué-la-Fontaine .
Doué-en-Anjou was established on December 30, 2016 as a commune nouvelle from the municipalities of Brigné , Concourson-sur-Layon , Doué-la-Fontaine , Forges , Meigné , Montfort , Saint-Georges-sur-Layon and Les Verchers-sur- Layon formed. The administrative headquarters are in Doué-la-Fontaine.
geography
Doué-en-Anjou is located about 35 kilometers east-southeast of the city center of Angers in the heart of the Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Nature Park . The Layon crosses the municipality. Doué-en-Anjou is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Tuffalun in the north and north-west, Louresse-Rochemenier and Dénezé-sous-Doué in the north, Verrie in the north-east, Les Ulmes in the east and north-east, Cizay-la-Madeleine and Brossay in the east, Vaudelnay in the south-east, Le Puy-Notre-Dame and Saint-Macaire-du-Bois in the south, Lys-Haut-Layon in the west and Terranjou in the north-west.

Doué-la-Fontaine
Of particular historical importance is the motte (so-called fixed house ) near Doué-la-Fontaine, which was built in the 10th and 11th centuries. It has been a monument historique since 1973. It is doubtful whether it is the oldest stone castle complex.
