Location of the association of municipalities in the Pays de la Loire region

The Communauté d'agglomération Saumur Val de Loire is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté d'agglomération in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire . It was founded on December 16, 2016 and comprises 45 communities (as of January 1, 2019). The administrative headquarters are in the city of Saumur .

Historical development

The community association was created with effect from January 1, 2017 through the merger of the predecessor organizations

• Communauté d'agglomération Saumur Loire Développement ,
• Communauté de communes de la Région de Doué-la-Fontaine ,
• Communauté de communes du Gennois and
• Communauté de communes Loire-Longué

with the simultaneous formation of the Commune nouvelle Doué-en-Anjou .

On January 1, 2018, the communes of Les Rosiers-sur-Loire , Gennes-Val de Loire and Saint-Martin-de-la-Place merged to form the new commune of Gennes-Val-de-Loire (spelling with hyphens) .

With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Chacé , Brézé and Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg became part of the Commune nouvelle Bellevigne-les-Châteaux . This reduced the number of member communities to 45.
