The Connaught Hospital ( English Connaught Hospital ) is the largest hospital in Sierra Leone and central medical facility. It is run by the state and is located in the capital, Freetown . The British King’s Sierra Leone Partnership provides technical, training and personnel support.
The hospital was opened in 1912 by Arthur, 1st Duke of Connaught and Strathearn . After its closure and partial destruction in the civil war between 1991 and 2002 , Connaught reopened in 2006. It is considered the most modern state medical facility in the country, but in large parts it does not meet Western standards.
