Distré is a French commune with 1,713 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Saumur and the canton of Saumur (until 2015: canton of Saumur-Sud ). The inhabitants are called distréens .
geography
Distré is located about four kilometers southwest of the city center of Saumur in the Saumurois . Distré is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Rou-Marson in the north and north-west, Saumur in the north and north-east, Varrains in the north-east, Bellevigne-les-Châteaux with Chacé in the east and south-east, Artannes-sur-Thouet in the south and south-east, Le Coudray-Macquard in the south, Couchamps in the southwest and Les Ulmes in the west.
The former route nationale 147 (today's D347) runs through the municipality .
