The municipality of Saint-Georges-sur-Layon became the new municipality of Doué-en-Anjou on December 30, 2016 with Brigné , Concourson-sur-Layon , Forges , Les Verchers-sur-Layon , Meigné , Montfort and Doué-la-Fontaine united. It belonged to the arrondissement of Saumur and is part of the canton of Doué-la-Fontaine .
