Martin Bille Hermann

Martin Bille Hermann (born December 21, 1968 ) is a Danish diplomat and civil servant. He has been State Secretary for Development Policy since 2014.

Career

In 1996 Hermann graduated from the University of Copenhagen with a master's degree in economics . In 2000 he received another master's degree in development management from the London School of Economics and Political Science . Between 1996 and 1999 he was Program Officer at the United Nations Development Program in Bhutan .

In 2001 Hermann started to work in the Danish Foreign Ministry as a division manager in the economic cooperation department. In 2002 he moved to the development policy department as division manager. In 2003 Hermann became deputy head of the Danish embassy in Kathmandu ( Nepal ). In 2006 he returned to the Foreign Ministry as Deputy Head of Development Policy. In 2008, he was promoted to head of the Asia and Pacific Ocean department. In 2012 Hermann became Danish Ambassador to Jakarta , with accreditation for Indonesia , East Timor and Papua New Guinea . Hermann also represented Denmark at ASEAN . In 2014, he was finally appointed State Secretary for Development Policy.

On January 1, 2019, Hermann took up his post as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Denmark to the United Nations in New York.
