Volkmar Dinstuhl (born September 26, 1972 in Oberhausen ) is a German chess player .

Life

Volkmar Dinstuhl studied at the Ruhr University in Bochum and did his doctorate there in 2002 on the subject of corporate valuation at the chair of controlling under Hans Dirrigl. His dissertation received the Ernst Zander Prize from the Institute for Management and Research at the Ruhr University. Volkmar Dinstuhl is one of the managing directors of thyssenkrupp Accessibility.

His brother Burghard, who is two years his junior, is also a successful chess player who played in the German Federal Chess League. Burghard has not played a tournament game since the 1990s.

In 1989 he took first place in a course in promoting talent (TASi) of the German Chess Youth in Hamburg . He won the North Rhine-Westphalian U20 championship in 1990 in Telgte . In 1991 he took second place with the German national youth team at the Glorney Cup in Gent . Volkmar Dinstuhl took part in German university team championships in 1994 in Bremen , 1995 in Stuttgart , 1997 in Leipzig and 1998 in Heidelberg at the top board of the Ruhr University Bochum : in 1997 he was German university champion. From 1989 to 1993 he played for SV Wattenscheid . He played for SV Castrop-Rauxel for the first time in the German Chess League in the 1993/94 season . From the 2002/03 season to the 2013/14 season he played again for Wattenscheid . In 2005 he was in Bochum-Wattenscheid with the SV Wattenscheid German team champion in blitz chess . In the 2014/15 season , Dinstuhl plays for SV Mülheim-Nord .

title

Volkmar Dinstuhl has been holding the title of International Master since November 2002. He achieved all the norms for this in the German Chess League , namely in the 1995/96 , 1996/97 and 2001/02 seasons . In the 2002/03 season he reached a GM norm. This season he defeated Dimitri Bunzmann , Matthias Wahls and Markus Stangl, among others .

Rating

During a one-year stay in the United States in 2004/05, he was by his tournament results there with a USCF rating of 2654 behind Ben Finegold in second place in the rankings of Michigan .
