Viktor Gavrikov

Viktor Gavrikov (born July 29, 1957 in Criuleni , Moldovan Soviet Socialist Republic ; † April 27, 2016 in Burgas , Bulgaria ) was a Lithuanian chess player and coach who played for the Swiss Chess Federation between 1993 and 1997 .

Life

In 1969 Viktor Gavrikov learned to play chess. In 1984 he received the grandmaster title . In 1985 he was tied for first in the Soviet championship . In the same year the 4th – 5th followed. Place in the interzonal tournament in Tunis . In 1988 Gavrikov was vice world champion in rapid chess in Mazatlán . In 1989 he won the Berlin Summer tournament in West Berlin . He won the tournament in Biel in 1990 and 1994. In 1991 he won in Geneva . In 1996 he finally became Swiss champion in Arosa .

Gavrikov achieved his highest rating of 2605 in July 1995.

In the Swiss National League A Gavrikov played from 2002 to 2004 for Sorab Basel , 2005 for Lugano CS and 2006 for SC Bodan . In Germany he played from 1993 to 1996 at SK Zähringen in 1921 and in the 1997/98 season at SK Passau in the 1st Bundesliga and from 2004 to 2010 for SK König Plauen in the 2nd Bundesliga and Oberliga. In the Austrian Bundesliga Gavrikov played in the 2004/05 season at SK Hohenems .
