Vidmantas Mališauskas (born August 4, 1963 in Kėdainiai ) is a Lithuanian chess player .

family

Mališauskas is married to Marina Mališauskienė (* 1966), who won the Lithuanian women's individual championship in 1993.

successes

In 1989 he became international champion , and since 1993 Mališauskas has held the title of chess grandmaster . In 1987, 1989, 1990, 1998, 2003, 2006 and 2010 he was Lithuanian individual champion and Lithuanian runner-up in 1994, 2002 and 2007. He represented Lithuania at the 1992 , 1994 , 1996 , 1998 , 2002 , 2006 , 2010 and 2012 Chess Olympiads . In his 78 games at the Chess Olympiads, he won 28 times, played 31 draws and lost 19 times. He also took part in the European Team Championships in 1992, 2007 and 2009 with Lithuania .

In 2014 he became the senior world champion with the Lithuanian team (over 50 years of age).

In the Polish team championship in chess he played in the 1989 season on the top board of AZS Politechnika Wrocław , in the 1990 season on the second board. He took part in the European Club Cup seven times with Lithuanian clubs, namely in 1994, 1995 and 1996 with Kaisé Vilnius , in 1999, 2009 and 2010 with ŠK Margiris Kaunas , and in 2008 with VŠŠSM Vilnius .
