I league (chess) 1989

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The I league (chess) 1989 was the 20th edition of the I league and the 45th Polish team championship in chess . The team from WKSz Legion Warszawa was the Polish team champion, while the defending champion MZKS Pocztowiec Poznań had to be content with seventh place. KS Maraton Wrocław and KS Primbr-Piast Słupsk were promoted from the II league, both of which achieved relegation. In purely sporting terms, FKS Avia Świdnik and BKS Chemik Bydgoszcz would have been relegated. However, this was meaningless, since the Polish team championship in 1990 was not played in the league system, but in a tournament according to the Swiss system , in which all participants in the I and II league 1989 were eligible to play.

For information on the team squad, see the I league (chess) 1989 team squad .

mode

The twelve teams played a simple round-robin tournament on six boards, with a woman standing on the sixth board. The last two should be relegated to the II league and replaced by the winners of the two seasons of the II league. The total of the additional points from the Polish youth team championship (15% of the points achieved there for teams that played in the I league of the youth team championship, 10% for teams that played in the II league of the youth team championship, rounded to half) initially decided on the placement Points) and the number of board points (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of board points and then the number of team points (two points for a win, one point for a Tie, no point for loss).

Date and venue

The tournament was played in Łeba from October 1st to October 11th .
