The Polish team championship in chess in 1957 was the 13th staging of this competition. The Polish team champion was the team of KKSz WDK Kraków, while the defending champion DWP Warszawa had to be content with fifth place. After the team strength had been reduced to seven boards in the final round in the previous year (it was mandatory to place a woman on the seventh board), this rule now also applied to the preliminary round.
For the preliminary round, 24 teams in the championships of the voivodeships had qualified. These played a simple round-robin tournament in four groups . The four group winners qualified for the final round, which was also held as a simple round-robin tournament, and the top eight of the Polish team championship in 1956 were pre- qualified . The number of team points (two points for a win, one point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of board points (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point) decided on the placement for defeat).
Dates and venue
The final round was played decentrally by the participating teams, the game dates were the 3rd, 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th, 30th November, 1st, 15th, 16th, 21st and 22nd December.
