Ekstraliga (chess) 2004
The Ekstraliga (chess) 2004 was the third edition of the Ekstraliga and the 60th Polish team championship in chess . The team from KS Polonia Plus GSM Warszawa became the Polish team champion for the sixth time in a row. With the withdrawal of ASSz Miedź Legnica in the previous year, three teams rose from the I league: KS Damis Warszawa (the second team from Polonia Warszawa), KSz Juvena Hańcza Suwałki and KSz Drapol-Jantar Pruszcz Gdański. Purely athletic Damis Warszawa and Suwałki reached relegation, but Damis Warszawa withdrew his team after the season. Gdański and KKS Polonia Wrocław immediately dismounted.
For information on the team squad, see Ekstraliga (chess) 2004 team squad .
mode
The ten teams played a simple round-robin tournament on six boards, with a woman standing on the sixth board. The last two placed were relegated to the I league and were replaced by the first two placed in the I league. The number of points on the board (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of team points (two points for a win, one point for a draw, no point) decided the placement for defeat).
Date and venue
The tournament was held in Dźwirzyno from September 4th to 12th .
