Robert Kempiński (born July 11, 1977 in Danzig ) is a leading Polish chess master .

Life

Kempiński was able to win a considerable number of titles in his youth: at the age of 14 he won the Polish youth championship in his age category for the first time, and a year later he was Polish youth champion U20. In the years that followed, he took part in a large number of international youth competitions for his homeland with great success: three times he was European youth champion , once in the U16 category (1993), twice in the U18 category (1994 in Crete and 1995 in Żagań ). In 1995 he won the U18 youth championship in Guarapuava ( Brazil ) ahead of Emil Sutovsky . 1996 awarded him FIDE the Grandmaster title .

Kempiński's numerous international tournament victories include successes in Zlín 1994, České Budějovice 1995, Lippstadt 1995, Frýdek-Místek 1997, Biel -Open 2000 and Bad Zwesten 2004. He has been participating regularly in the Polish national championship since 1994, and in 1997 he won after stabbing with Michał Krasenkow and Jacek Gdański champions for the first time, in 2001 he repeated his success (also after a playoff against Krasenkow). In 2006 he won the Rubinstein Memorial in Polanica-Zdrój together with Bartosz Soćko .

In March 2015 he is in third place in the Polish Elo ranking.

National team

Kempiński participated with the Polish national team in all six chess Olympiads from 1996 to 2006 and in all five European team championships from 1997 to 2005. In 1999 he achieved the second best individual result on the fourth board.

In the Polish team championship , Kempiński played for GKS Gedania Gdańsk from 1993 to 1997 , 1999 and 2000 for LKSz Drakon-BDK Daewoo Lublin , 2001 for KSz Devo-Maraton Łomża , from 2002 to 2012 for KSz Polonia Warsaw , with whom he 2002 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 , 2006 , 2009 , 2011 and 2012 Polish team champion was 2014 Akademia Szachowa Future Processing Gliwice and 2016 for SzK MIEDŹ Legnica . In the German federal chess league he has been playing for Hamburger SK since 1997 , for whose second team he already made several appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga North in the 1995/96 season . In the French team championship, Robert Kempiński played for Marseille Duchamps in the 2007/08 season , in the Czech Extraliga he played for ŠK Rapid Pardubice from 2007 to 2018 , and since 2018 he has played for ŠK Slavoj Poruba . Kempiński took part in the European Club Cup five times , from 2002 to 2005 with KSz Polonia Warsaw and in 2007 with Hamburger SK . With Polonia Warsaw he reached second place in 2003 and 2005, and third place in 2002, while he achieved the best result on the fifth board in 2003, the second best result on the fourth board in 2002 and the third best result on the fifth board in 2004.
