Top 16 (chess) 2007/08
The Top 16 2007/08 was the 28th French team championship in chess .
Champion became the defending champion Club de Clichy-Echecs-92 . From the Nationale II CE de Bois-Colombes , the Club de Marseille Duchamps , the Club de AJE Noyon and the Club de La Tour Hyéroise were promoted . While Noyon achieved relegation, Bois-Colombes, Hyères and Marseille Duchamps would have been relegated together with the Club de Bischwiller , but since the Club de Orcher la Tour Gonfreville withdrew its team, Bois-Colombes still remained in the top 16.

mode
The tournament was divided into a preliminary round and a final round. The 16 participating teams were divided into two groups of eight ( Poule A and Poule B ) and played a simple round-robin tournament in these . The first four of both groups played in Poule Haute , the last four in Poule Basse against relegation. Teams that met in the preliminary round did not play against each other again in the final round. First, the total of the team points achieved in the preliminary and final rounds (3 points for a win, 2 points for a draw, 1 point for a defeat, 0 points for a defeat without a fight) decided on the placement, then the direct comparison, then the difference between Winning and losing games.
Game dates
The competitions were held from March 22nd to 24th, April 10th to 13th and from May 29th to June 1st, 2008. In Poule A, two competitions were played in Marseille and Clichy in the first three rounds , while the fourth to seventh round was organized centrally in Montpellier . In Poule B, two competitions were played in Cannes and Gonfreville-l'Orcher in the first three rounds , while the fourth to seventh rounds were held centrally in Noyon . All competitions of the Poule Haute and the Poule Basse took place in Évry .

Finals
Poule Haute
Cannes and Clichy started with 7 wins in the Poule Haute and thus already had a clear lead over the rest of the field. After Clichy won the first three rounds of the Poule Haute, but Cannes gave a draw against Montpellier, Clichy defended the title with a direct comparison.

Poule Basse
In purely sporting terms, Marseille Duchamps (who did not compete in the Poule Basse competitions, so that they were rated 3-0 team points and 5-0 board points for the respective opponent), Hyères, Bischwiller and Bois-Colombes were already as Relegated firmly. However, since the withdrawal of Gonfreville a place became free, Bois-Colombes was able to save himself by defeating Bischwiller.
