Manuel Apicella

Manuel Apicella (born April 19, 1970 in Longjumeau ) is a French chess player . In 1989 he became an international master , and since 1995 he has held the title of chess grandmaster .

Single successes

In 1990 he became city champion of Paris , in 1992 he was French individual champion ( category 7) in Strasbourg , in 1994 he was divided 1st – 5th at the International Open in Béthune . In 1995 he won the Comtois Masters in Belfort (category 10) and the 3rd Grand Masters tournament in Clichy (category 10). At the Open in Tunis 1997 he was split 1st – 4th. In 1999 he won the First International Open in Chanac and was tied 1st – 2nd at the 14th Touraine Open in Avoine. In 2002 he was tied 1st – 5th at the CCAS Open in Cap d'Agde . In 2003 he won the First BC Grandmaster Tournament in Bois-Colombes (Category 7) and the 6th St. Quentin Open in Élancourt . In 2004 he was shared 1st – 2nd at the 2nd BC Grandmaster Tournament in Bois-Colombes. (Category 8) and won the 4th Open in Saint-Chély-d'Aubrac . In 2005 he won the 3rd BC Grandmaster Tournament in Bois-Colombes (category 8). In 2006 he was shared 1st – 2nd at the 13th Luigi Serra tournament in Montecatini Terme . (Category 8), won the 18th Open d'été in Cannes and was second behind Suat Atalık with the same number of points at the 4th Mediterranean Individual Championship in Cannes .

Team successes

He was French team champion eight times, in 1986 with Caissa , 1989, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2007 and 2008 with Clichy and 2010 with Châlons-en-Champagne . He won the French team cup five times with Clichy Echecs 92 (1992, 1996, 1998, 2001 and 2006). In the British Four Nations Chess League he played for Hilsmark Kingfisher in Division 3. He also plays team chess for Oaso XT in the Basque 1. League. At the European Club Cup he took from 1993 to 2007. eleven times with Clichy part.

With the French U26 national team, he won a bronze medal at the U26 World Cup in Paranaguá in 1993 . He played twice for the French national team at European team championships , in 1989 and 1992. He also took part in three chess Olympiads , in 1994 , 1996 and 2000 , with a total of 13 points from 26 games (+6 = 14 −6).

Rating

His Elo rating is 2505 (as of April 2020), which puts him in 21st place in the French Elo ranking. His highest rating to date was 2560 in July 1996.
