Fabien Libiszewski (born January 5, 1984 in Saint-Étienne ) is a French chess player .

National team

At the Glorney & Faber Cup in 2001 in Hyères , he finished second with the French junior national team. With the French national team, he took part in the Mitropa Cups in 2003 (on the top board), 2004 (on the third board) and 2012 (on the second board). He also played for the French national team at the 2006 four-nation tournament in San Sebastián with participants from Catalonia, France, the Basque Country and Argentina. The team reached second place.

Club teams

In Germany he has been playing for SC Viernheim since the 2008/09 season , including the 2013/14 season and again in the 1st Bundesliga since 2018 . In France he has been playing for Clichy Echecs since 2019 , before that from 2017 to 2018 for Grasse Echecs , from 2003 to 2016 for Montpellier Echecs in the top French league, the Interclubs Top 12 (until 2003 Nationale I, from 2004 to 2010 Top 16), formerly for the Club de Mulhouse Philidor and in the League of the Basque Country for CA Easo from Donostia (San Sebastián). In the Belgian Interclubs League he played for the Cercle Royal des Échecs de Charleroi and the Koninklijke Gentse Schaakkring Ruy Lopez . In 2013 he played in the Spanish División de Honor for CE Escola d'Escacs de Barcelona , and in the British Four Nations Chess League Libiszewski played for 3Cs in the 2016/17 season .

Title and rating

He received the title of International Master in February 2004. Since April 2009 he has had the title of Grand Master . He had already achieved the necessary standards for this at the international youth festivals in Cannes in March 2003 and February 2006, as well as with overachievement at the French team championship in 2008 , but it was not until the evaluation in April 2009 that he exceeded the limit of 2500 Elo points. His Elo number is 2513 (as of March 2020), his highest Elo number of 2547 he reached in December 2016.
