Jan-Krzysztof Duda (born April 26, 1998 in Krakow ) is a Polish chess player .

Life

Duda became world champion in the U10 age group in Vũng Tau in 2008 . He finished second at the U14 European Championships in Albena in 2011 and won the U14 European Championship in Prague in 2012 . At the 2013 World Chess Cup in Tromsø he was eliminated in the first round with 0.5: 1.5 against Wassyl Iwantschuk . December 2014 Duda won in Wrocław the European Championship in rapid chess and reached at the European Championships in speed chess in second place. In May 2018, Duda won the Polish championship in Warsaw .

In September 2012 he was named International Master (IM), he fulfilled the required standards in August 2011 at a Grand Master’s tournament in Ostróda , in February 2012 at the Polish championship in Warsaw and in August 2012 at the Olomouc Chess Summer . In October 2013, he was awarded the title of Grand Master (GM). The IM norm from the Olomouc Chess Summer 2012 was also a GM norm, and Duda fulfilled other GM norms in March 2013 at the First Saturday GM in Budapest and in May 2013 at the European individual championship in Legnica .

Duda is studying sport at the Cracow Sports Academy AWF (Akademia Wychowania Fizycznego im. Bronisława Czecha). In September 2018 he is in first place in the Polish Elo ranking.

National team

For the Polish national team he played at the European Team Championships in Warsaw in 2013 (on the top board of the second team), 2015, 2017 (on the second board each time) and 2019 (on the top board), with the third-best individual result on his board in 2017. In addition, Duda played on the third board of the Polish team at the 2014 Chess Olympiad in Tromsø, on the second board at the 2016 Chess Olympiad and on the first board at the 2018 Chess Olympiad and reached the 2017 team championship both with the team and in the individual ranking on the second board third place. There he had an Elo performance of 2727 with 8.5 points from 11 games .

In the Polish team championship Duda played for TKKF Drogowiec Kraków since 2018 for WASKO HETMAN Katowice , with whom he became champions in 2018 and 2019 , in the German Bundesliga he has played on the second board of the Hamburger SK since the 2014/15 season . In the Czech Extra League, Duda played for TJ Tatran Litovel from 2012 to 2015 and for GASCO Pardubice in the 2017/18 season . In France he has been playing for CE de Bois-Colombes since the 2014/15 season , and he won the Spanish team championship in 2017 with Sestao Bizkaialde .
