Ekstraliga (chess) 2018

The Ekstraliga (chess) 2018 was the 17th edition of the Ekstraliga and the 74th Polish team championship in chess . The champion was the defending champion WASKO HETMAN Katowice, from the I league three teams were promoted last year through the withdrawal of WKSz Kopernik Wrocław with Wieża Pęgów, Biały Król Wisznia Mała and LKS Wrzos Międzyborów. While Wieża Pęgów and Biały Król Wisznia Mała achieved relegation, Międzyborów had to relegate directly with UKS Hetman Częstochowa.

mode

The ten teams played a simple round-robin tournament on six boards, with a woman standing on the sixth board. The last two placed were relegated to the I league and will be replaced by the first two placed in the I league. The number of team points (two points for a win, one point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of board points (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point) decided the placement for defeat).

Dates and venues

The first three rounds were played from June 8th to 10th in the public voivodeship and city library in memory of Zbigniew Herbert ( Wojewódzka i Miejska Biblioteka Publiczna im. Zbigniewa Herberta ) in Gorzów Wielkopolski , rounds 4 to 6 were played from June 14th to 6th. to 16 September in the Sky Tower in Wroclaw aligned, and the last three rounds were from 26 to 28 October in the library of the Sports University Katowice ( Biblioteka Akademii Wychowania fizycznego in Katowice ) in Katowice place.

Season course

The defending champion WASKO HETMAN Katowice was already the champion before the last round. Likewise, LKS Wrzos Międzyborów was determined prematurely as relegated, while the decision on the second relegation place was made in the last round.
