I league (chess) 1993

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The I league (chess) 1993 was the 22nd edition of the I league and the 49th Polish team championship in chess . Polish team champions were ZKS Stilon Gorzów Wielkopolski's team with a half point lead over KKS Polonia Warszawa, while defending champions KS Miedź Legnica had to be content with third place. PTSz Płock, KS Górnik Zabrze, GKS Gedania Gdańsk and BKS Chemik Bydgoszcz (the latter as a successor to last year's seventh KSz Hańcza Suwałki, who retired) rose from the II league in the previous year. While Zabrze, Gdańsk and Bydgoszcz achieved relegation, Płock had to relegate together with KS Maraton Warszawa and KSz Hetman Gryfów Śląski directly.

For information on the team squad, see team squad of the I league (chess) 1993 .

mode

The twelve teams played a simple round-robin tournament on six boards, with a woman standing on the sixth board. The last three were relegated to the II league and were replaced by the top three in the II league. The number of points on the board (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of team points (two points for a win, one point for a draw, no point) decided the placement for defeat).

Date and venue

The tournament was played in Lubniewice from September 23 to October 3 .
