I league (chess) 2000

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The I league (chess) 2000 was the 29th edition of the I league and the 56th Polish team championship in chess . The defending champion KS Polonia Plus GSM Warszawa became the defending champion. PTSz Płock, AZS UMCS Lublin, KSz Odrodzenie Kożuchów and LZS Rolnik Różan were promoted from the II league in the previous year. Płock and Lublin achieved relegation, while Kożuchów and Różan, together with MOK Chrobry Głogów, were relegated directly. In purely sporting terms, KSz Juvena Hańcza Suwałki would also have been relegated, but since two teams, Hetman Wrocław and MOSiR-Budosak Zabrze, had withdrawn and only one place could be filled by a replacement from the II division, Suwałki remained the best relegated in the I division. For the last time the competition was held with twelve teams, since 2001 the league strength is ten teams.

For information on the team squad, see the I league (chess) 2000 team squad .

mode

The twelve teams played a simple round-robin tournament on six boards, with a woman standing on the sixth board. The four last placed were relegated to the II league and were replaced by the winners of the two seasons of the II league. The number of points on the board (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of team points (two points for a win, one point for a draw, no point) decided the placement for defeat).

Date and venue

The tournament was played in Zakopane from September 2nd to 13th .
